Tunisian Victory
This 1944 propaganda film was a collaboration between the British and American governments designed to spread the news of their victorious campaign in northern Africa. Combining archive footage with fictional narratives voiced by Burgess Meredith and Bernard Miles, the film follows the North Africa offensive from the planning stages all the way through to the eventual liberation of Tunis. The film was a follow-up to the successful 1943 British documentary film Desert Victory, but was beset by problems between the British and US film makers on the project. Most of the actual American combat footage was destroyed when the ship carrying it was sunk, requiring many of the "battle scenes" to be reshot in America by director John Huston.

A Farewell to Arms
Gary Cooper and Helen Hays star in this adaptation of Hemingway's classic anti-war novel set on the Italian front during World War I. Hemingway based much of the story on his own experiences as an 18 year-old ambulance-driver in Italy, but was disappointed with the liberal approach the studio executives took to transferring his book to the big screen. However, the film remains effective as a romantic drama and Charles Lang's Oscar-winning cinematography perfectly complements the story's progress towards its tense conclusion.
