Kino Otokonoko
Loosely based on the Pinocchio story by Carlo Collodi, Kino Otokonoko tells the story of a young woman who wakes in the aftermath of her fathers death from a series of strange dreams, only to discover she is in fact the product of her lonely father's desire to build a daughter from wood. As Ki struggles to come to terms with this new-found self-awareness she realizes that although she might be different to everyone around her, she was borne of love and loneliness, giving her existence the same weight as every other person in the world. Kino Otokonoko is a Japanese language film shot on location in London by Michelle Tofi and Adam Grundy and starring Kozue Takeda.
