Description:
Born in Glasgow, Scotland and brought up on a remote Hebridean Island, Uisdean decided to follow his filmmaking ambition after writing several scripts whilst studying a degree in Chemistry. During which time he would also make no budget action films with his friends which fueled his ambition to tell his own stories on screen.
After an HND qualification in TV Production, Uisdean self-financed a string of short films from his earnings as a freelance cameraman and editor. His most successful films to date include his first two Jemima films that have played at festivals around the globe including the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal where, Jemima: Photographic Trophy, played as part of the Small Gauge Trauma selection of films. The film also won Best Horror at the Deep Fried Film Festival and won a competition to play prior to the Scottish premiere of Wild Country.
A more recent short film, Sweet Stained, a crime thriller was nominated for Best Director & Best Thriller at the 2007 Hollywood DV/HD Film Festival.
Uisdean latest film, Sessions of the Mind (2008) revisits the character of Jemima and is his most ambitious film to date.
I love:
Watching movies, especially David Lynch (apart from Dune and not sure about Inland Empire). Terrence Malick, Michael Mann, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Jane Campion and Tom Tykwer are amoungst my favourite filmmakers. Love the Three Colours Trilogy, The Thin Red Line, Lost Highway, The Fountain, Heat, The Crow, Persona, Thelma & Louise... most films with Sly or Arnie.
I hate:
These terrible cheap looking animation films that they seem to churn out these days.
