Mind the Gap
Matthew, a young homeless man sleeping in an alley, wakes up to a random act of cruelty, as his shoes are violently stolen from him. Matthew roams the streets of Downtown Los Angeles, searching for shelter, food, but mostly looking for an attentive someone to share with his misfortune, while daydreaming about an alternative reality for himself. Begging for people's spare change, Mathew is ignored, and fails in establishing a real connection with anyone who passes by him. Passively resisting his faith, Matthew's mind shifts between reality and dream, which seem to exist in parallel lines, where the boundaries between the dreamer and the dream blend together. Drifting away in his thoughts and in the streets, Mathew ends up at an alley, where he coincidentally meets a young homeless woman, with whom he shares a special bond.
