Khoda
Here is a minute preview of my short film “Khoda”. This film is my final year project for my animation degree. I started the project in 2006 with a vague concept by me and a friend of mine Mark Szalos Farkas . In June 2006 Adam Thomson joined us as a 3D artist. Adam and I worked on pre-production (Animatic, Story board, Character design, etc) and managed to finish that by the end of September 2006. Mark came back to the project later that year as an animator, and so far we have finished more than half of the film. If everything stays on schedule, the final film will be ready by March 2008.

Breaking The Mould – Luca Paulli
Winner of the Shooting People DepicT! '08 Audience Award. The story of an intrepid apple who, instead of rotting on the ground, goes out and sees the world. The title Breaking the Mould has a dual meaning. It refers both to the characters unwillingness to rot on the ground, like an ordinary windfall, and to the fact that he chooses to do something different with his life i.e. going out and seeing the world. The themes of a journey, and finding roots and contentment can be seen in the narrative. The story also offers a unique take on a natural cycle. This short film was made in a promo style. The story is an original concept developed, by Luca Paulli and Rebecca Manley, as part of the University of Wales Newports Animator in Residence scheme, where a filmmaker spends one month in the university to make a film. The music track is an original piece, written and performed by Barney Wade. The combination of music, sound (created by Christopher Wilson) and visuals is central to Breaking the Mould. We worked with the track from the very beginning in order to create a piece that presents itself as a seamless whole. It is the rhythm of the music that sets the pace for the apple's journey, and the animation was entirely based on this rhythm. To find out more about Luca Pualli visit their profile Here. Yonder
The idea for Yonder originates in the interest of the comlexity and simplicity of the world we live in. Simply put, our complex world is created out of seemingly basic modules – cells – which are then repeated and combined to build up complex organisms and structures. This principle I have adopted in the creation of Yonder. By repeating simple forms I wanted to build a world with its own shapes and organisms. Basic movements extracted from nature shall give the shapes a living feeling. The goal was to create an alternate world that seems foreign yet at the same time familiar.
