Shooting Fish Champion
The Archer Fish uses its mouth as a bow and a stream of water as an arrow to shoot prey lurking above the surface. Not only must it hit a moving target but it also solves a complex problem of physics in the process. As it sets its aim, the fish calculates and corrects for the refractive bending of light through the water. Its gill covers shut, thrusting water along a groove, releasing a stream of aqua arrows.

Inner City World Cup 2006
The programme offers a unique showcase for grass-roots football and a great opportunity to see some friendly rivalry and excellent football skills close-up. In addition to the featured teams (Afghanistan, Poland, Ghana, Colombia) training and selection trials, participants reflect on life as an immigrant. They discuss the difficulties of acceptance and immigration, as well as the positive opportunities this “mini-world cup” provides for integration with different ethnic communities, as it helps to build bridges and new friendships across the different cultures taking part.

Vice Versus - Rollapaluza
Originally from the courier scene, Rollapaluza is a static indoor bike race held in pubs or clubs. The races are usually 500 meter to 1 kilometer sprints on genuine track bikes. In London, the burgeoning fixed-wheel bike scene is helping to draw more and more people to the events where the combination of beer and fierce competition makes for an electric atmosphere.

The Wild Frontier of Sports: Dodgeball
Anyone who remembers childhood as a time of innocence and joy was never on the wrong side of a dodgeball. If you ever packed a few extra pounds in grade school, chances are the specters of those stinging rubber balls haunt you to this day. But for the past three summers, young Brooklynites have been turning up at McCarren Park Pool to re-brand dodgeball as a sport where ex-bullies and fat kids can come together over a beer or six and have some good clean fun. We take you into the fray in our new video series: The Wild Frontier of Sports.

Freewheelers: Ben's Lowrider
London designer Ben Wilson has worked with some very big names: Issey Miyake, Puma, Brooks, Nike and Ron Arad. But perhaps none of this would have happened if it wasn’t for his Americana-inspired lowrider. A beautiful exploration of form, movement and function, this fantastical lowrider kick-started Ben’s career and is emblematic of his lifelong love affair with the bicycle.

Freewheelers: Jess's Self-Build
“I just try to ride without stopping". And it’s not easy to stop when you’re riding a, er, brakeless mountain bike. Adrenalin-junkie or just plain foolhardy? Jess has an amped-up attitude to go with the mire of London traffic. But this fashion student from Louisana also has a very laidback sense of personal style. Riding without brakes in London is one thing, but riding in shorts? That’s certifiable.
