Reuters: Democrat rivals clash over health care 27 February

Senator Clinton and Senator Obama have split the first four significant nominating contests so far. This was the final Democratic debate before Super Tuesday next week -- when 23 states will have their own say as to who should be the Democratic presidential nominee. Jon Decker reports.

By beating Barack Obama in three out of four Democratic primaries-- Clinton stopped Obama's 12 state winning streak and gave a much-needed boost to her campaign. Jon Decker reports.

On Monday, Senator Clinton -- in what her campaign labeled a major foreign policy speech, called Obama a risky choice to lead U.S. foreign policy. Jon Decker reports.

The Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll put Obama within striking distance of Clinton in New Hampshire. She led Obama 32 percent to 26 percent. Former Sen. John Edwards, the runner-up in Iowa, was at 20 percent and no other Democrat was in double digits.

The wife of former president Bill Clinton tried to tackle Obama over something he had said in a transcript and ended up trading barbed comments with him. The third presidential candidate accused them of squabbling. However they did agree on their fears for the U.S. economy and possible recession.

Obama trounced his Democratic rival, taking 61 percent of the vote to Clinton's 37 percent. Exit polls showed that about 90 percent of African-Americans backed Obama, who is trying to become America's first black president. The victory in Mississippi extended Obama's lead over Hillary Clinton in pledged delegates to the August nominating convention. The next big showdown is in Pennsylvania in six weeks time. With 158 delegates at stake, it's the biggest single-state haul remaining in the race for the nomination.

Most of Obama's wins have come in caucuses...contests in which a smaller amount of voters gather at a specific time -- and in some cases make their choice known publicly. With the exception of her narrow win in the Nevada caucuses, all of Clinton's victories have been in primaries -- with larger numbers of voters making their choice known in the privacy of a voting booth. Clinton's campaign has certainly not been innocent of getting personal...with Senator Clinton comparing Obama's tactics to that of Karl Rove and her spokesman comparing Obama's tactics to that of former Independent Counsel Ken Starr. Jon Decker reports.
