Angel and the Badman
John Wayne plays an all-round bad guy who is nursed back to health by a virtuous Quaker girl, and finds himself having to choose between his former life as a rough-riding cowboy or settling down to a more wholesome future. Directed and written by screenwriter James Edward Grant, this classic western was the first film to be released by Wayne's personal production unit at the Republic studio.

Night of the Living Dead
A ground-breaking film that launched a thousand pale imitations, this 1968 zombie flick popularised the nightmarish image of the dead rising up from their graves. Economically shot in black and white, and adopting a realistic style despite the fantastic scenario, the story focuses on a small group of people who come together for protection in a barricaded farm-house while hordes of zombies roam the land outside.

A Farewell to Arms
Gary Cooper and Helen Hays star in this adaptation of Hemingway's classic anti-war novel set on the Italian front during World War I. Hemingway based much of the story on his own experiences as an 18 year-old ambulance-driver in Italy, but was disappointed with the liberal approach the studio executives took to transferring his book to the big screen. However, the film remains effective as a romantic drama and Charles Lang's Oscar-winning cinematography perfectly complements the story's progress towards its tense conclusion.

Golf Specialist
Classic slapstick starring the legendary WC Fields in his first 'talkie' role. The action takes place on a golf course where Fields - as a miscreant wanted by the authorities for crimes such as 'eating spaghetti in public' and 'telling the facts of life to an Indian' - tries to impress a lady friend with his prowess. He is, naturally, thwarted in his efforts at every turn through a series of set-piece gags.
