Tunisian Victory
1h 16min
This 1944 propaganda film was a collaboration between the British and American governments designed to spread the news of their victorious campaign in northern Africa. Combining archive footage with fictional narratives voiced by Burgess Meredith and Bernard Miles, the film follows the North Africa offensive from the planning stages all the way through to the eventual liberation of Tunis. The film was a follow-up to the successful 1943 British documentary film Desert Victory, but was beset by problems between the British and US film makers on the project. Most of the actual American combat footage was destroyed when the ship carrying it was sunk, requiring many of the "battle scenes" to be reshot in America by director John Huston.
