President Bush perverts Justice while the rest of the country keeps dancing just outside the door.

Thousands of people protested on Sunday in the Georgian capital Tbilisi against what they said was a rigged presidential election apparently handing victory to incumbent Mikheil Saakashvili. Gathering in the snow on the central Rike Square up to 10,000 opposition activists accused the authorities of stealing Saturday's polls. All the opposition candidates have promised to use all legal and political means to contest the elections in the courts. But Georgia's snap presidential election was "competitive" and "valid" in a triumph for democracy, the head of the OSCE observer mission told journalists Sunday.

Early next month, a Libyan appeals court is to hand down a verdict in the case of five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor sentenced to death for allegedly infecting 438 children there with AIDS. The families are demanding compensation, and are wanting to put an end to an ordeal they can barely fathom. A voiced report. (Footage filmed between June 19 and 24.)

Carlos - a Honduran construction worker - got his leg mangled in a rock crusher. He will never be able to do physical labour again. His lawyer seeks a few million dollars in damages. Barbara - an anaesthesiologist - developed severe latex allergy from the use of latex gloves. She takes medicine but could easily die from any exposure to latex. Her lawsuit is part of a mass tort in which hundreds of latex allergy victims join forces in one product liability case.

The resolution was passed despite calls from the United States and Iraq for calm.

The deal is not yet finalized .. the Federal Communications Commission still must approve it. The FCC has to decide whether the buyout is in the public's interest and whether to uphold a 1997 order barring either satellite radio company for acquiring the other.

There's been no official comment from either airline, but analysts say such a deal is likely and needed in an industry that emerged from a five-year slump in 2006. Conway Gittens reports from New York.
