Reuters: Talk of the Town: Pam single again 26 March

Hope & Fear is my latest film that brings my paintings to life, and explores their visual content through the use of multimedia. The film is a digital animation created using Flash MX and has been screened at the Athens Film Festival and at the MP4Fest in LA. The film is five min’s long and uses an original soundtrack composed by the nationally recognised dj K2. The music complements the visual style of the film helping to emphasise the mood of the content. The imagery is a visual reflection and reaction to the vast amount of advertising and media driven content that surrounds our urban environment, and how we interact with it on a personal level. ‘Do you really need those new shoe’s?’

A rocket-levelled border town

Carpet slippers may seem a fuddy-duddy accessory for an evening at home, but French makers of the footwear are trying to give them a more stylish feel. The felt-soled and quilted Charentaise has been around since the time of King Louis XIV, though nowadays it is to be found less in royal wardrobes than cheap and cheerful stores stocked with Chinese-made models. To combat the trend, maker Rodinaud has put a creative spin on the footwear, making some out of cashmere or fake mink, and giving them a redesign. It staged a runway show at the Eiffel Tower in Paris to highlight its revamped slipper as a luxury accoutrement.

There are fewer than 100 of them left in Pristina. Before the war in 1999, about 30,000 ethnic Serbs lived in the city, the capital of Kosovo. The tiny community, which lives amid half-a-million ethnic Albanians, fears the outcome of negotiations on the province's final status, and what independence for Kosovo could mean for them.
