WALKING ON THE SUN
While on vacation in Morocco with my lovely and talented wife, Caroline, I was listening to one of my my favorite songs, Walking On The Sun, and thought about how much it resonated with the current political climate in the world. I had always been unhappy with the music video produced by the record company. It sacrificed what the song was really about for dancing Bikini babes. It was kinda sad. So, one hot afternoon, I was on the back of the camel moving though the Sahara desert and the song was playing on my ipod and I was thinking, yes, this is a perfect metaphor for the song - a hot lifeless desert. I started telling Caroline about my observation and she was like, "we're here. Why don't you shoot a little music video of your own oif it means that much to you." We downloaded the lyrics at an internet cafe and went all over Morocco shooting this music video. We used nothing more than our Ipods (which you can see in many of the shots) and my little Sony video camera HC3 set up on a tripod. What resulted was some great fun, not so much because we got to be rock stars for a day, but because everywhere we went people loved what we were doing. And that is the point. There is so much goodwill in the world among regular folks. It needs to be amped up to keep us from blowing ourselves up. We can't let hate hijack our good relations.

Feuille (Leaf)
The strange story of two woman artists: Meihua, a Chinese painter who comes to Paris from the southern reaches of the Yangtze River, and Stephanie, a French photographer living in Paris. Sharing the same feelings towards art, and attracted to each other's cultures, they become good friends. But culture and personality conflicts tear them apart and, unable to accept Leaf (Stephanie) as her lover, Meihua unwillingly decides to end their friendship and return to her home country. The shocking news that Leaf has passed away awakens Meihua's deep feelings for her friend, and it is from this moment that the film's story unfolds in an obscure, poetic way.

Exile Paranoia
The consequences of geopolitical conflicts can alter our personal life and restrict our choices. As an Iranian, I found myself highly bound by immigration restrictions due to political issues between Iran and the Super Powers. This project represents my personal perception of these consequences. The metaphorical story addresses the obstacles an immigrant confronts through out her journey. The events are illustrated from her emotional perspective; her sense of security is tied with the possession of her passport which is a fragile situation frequently threatened by official and non-official types of authority. Her journey resembles a continual nightmare, a fusion between dream and reality.
