Four decades after playing Paris's legendary L'Olympia concert hall with the Beatles, Paul McCartney returns to the venue Monday saying "it's still exciting." Commenting on his decision to quit the EMI label for Starbucks' Hear Music, McCartney said that as the music industry changed through Internet use and downloads, "I started to think that the record companies don't know how to deal with it (the change)." The Greatest Fakes
57min
Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, T-Rex, musical acts that have reached legendary status and only The Stones can we still see live. The others will never perform again. Or will they? Have another look. The old masters are back, courtesy of a curious sleight of hand and clever counterfeit skills. The forgers can be good and bad, but the best can pack the Albert Hall and pull in a handsome living. The greatest fakes are full time, touring the UK and the world – Europe, the USA, Russia, India, Japan, the Arab States; wherever the originals went, the carbon copies will follow. This programme looks at some of the most successful acts on the popular UK tribute scene, goes back-stage with them and watches them out front, enjoying the reception they receive on stage. It asks them what it’s like for a talented performer to spend his working life as someone else? Do they feel a responsibility or do they feel a failure? Why have they been doing this so long instead of performing their own stuff? The Bootleg Beatles have been together for 26 years, two and half times as long as the original Beatles; but as they approach middle-age, do they mind still pulling on the wigs and pulling in the stomachs? Why not ask the fake Marc Bolan? He is off-stage as he is on-stage, there is no difference. In fact there’s more than a hint of cross-over between reality and fantasy - he had the blessing of Marc’s wife June, is a close friend of Bolan’s son, Roland, and is married to Bolan’s ex-baby sitter, Karen. And the one-time girlfriend of Brian Jones is very close to the fake Brian of the fake Stones. Have the fakes become a little too real?

PARIS - SPRING/SUMMER 2008 - HAUTE COUTURE - JEAN PAUL GAULTIER FASHIONSHOWAn ode to mermaids at Jean-Paul Gaultier. For his couture show, Gaultier gives his version of the princesses of the sea which become half-breeds, naughty minxes and rock’n’roll as they walk with long, wavy, wet hair. Scales take top position in embroideries or cuts of material on numerous models, such as on the bustier dresses which lengthen the body and especially on the flagship pieces like the trench and the over-blouse. The couturier has fun and, as always, adds his own touches of originality, such as the big muslin umbrellas attached to the clothes, the tattoos covering the arms and back and even the finale where the bride arrives on crutches that she soon ditches, unzips her gold skirt and walks assuredly to the end of the catwalk. Jean-Paul Gaultier has once again achieved his goal of putting art at the service of dreams and escapism.Music for the catwalk

A wardrobe which is imprinted with modernity and touches of humour yet which remains wearable. Music for the catwalk

Paul has been my neighbour for about 15 years. He's 83 years old and he's an actor. I recorded him talking about his life and I later added animation to it. In this portrait, past and present anecdotes of his life are mixed with drama, but they are told with a simple and satirical narrative.
