The country has been voting in Presidential elections and Fernandez is expected to win easily. If so, it would be a rare democratic handover between spouses and give the South American country it's first elected female President.

The wife of president Nestor Kirchner, Senator Fernandez is the overwhelming favorite to win the Oct. 28 election with polls indicating she could end it in the first round with 45 percent of the vote.
