Egypt is so old that for centuries its origins have remained shrouded in mystery but in recent years a new generation of archaeologists have been scouring the desert re-examining the temples and tombs, excavating lost cities and probing deeper than ever before. In this programme we travel back thousands of years to discover how this powerful civilisation emerged. We also look at the role of the Pharaoh, a living god who was at the centre of the conflict between divine order and the evil forces of chaos.
