Red Cliffs, 30km north of the Nxamaseri River in Botswana's Okavango Delta is peppered with holes that belong to carmine bee-eaters (Merops nubicoides). The birds have distinctive pink plumage and they tunnel into the red sandy cliffs to make nesting holes where they breed during their southerly migration.
