Red Cliffs, 30km north of the Nxamaseri River in Botswana's Okavango Delta is peppered with holes that belong to carmine bee-eaters (Merops nubicoides). The birds have distinctive pink plumage and they tunnel into the red sandy cliffs to make nesting holes where they breed during their southerly migration.

A look at the rockhopper penguins (Eudyptes chrysocome) of Saunders Island in the Falkland Islands of the south Atlantic. Their streamlined ability in water contrasts with their apparently cumbersome hopping on land, as they undertake an arduous journey from the sea up a steep, stony incline to their nesting sites on a massive rocky outcrop high above the ocean.
