Legends of the Living Dead - The Evil Dead, Episode 1
In this programme we encounter killers and tyrants…people who were maybe just too wicked to ever rest in peace. We unfold the amazing story of Adolf Hitler’s body. Seized by the KGB in 1945, for two decades the corpse lay buried, in secret, beneath a car park, before being ground to dust. The remains were tipped into a sewer…to prevent the body becoming a neo-Nazi icon. We visit the burial place of serial killer Ed Gein in Plainfield, Wisconsin…the man whose wicked deeds inspired movies like Psycho and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. To some, Ed Gein has become a hero. Fans stole his tombstone…but the sheriff of Plainfield reveals how he recovered it…and now keeps it under lock and key. In Fort Worth, Texas we visit the gravesite of presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald…to discover there’s a question mark over the killer’s identity. The mortician who buried him…and later exhumed the body for examination…says the head of Lee Harvey Oswald was switched between burial and exhumation. And where’s the body of Jesse James? His great grandson tells us it’s buried near the family ranch, in Kearney, Missouri. But others say Jesse James escaped the lawmen who were chasing him…lived to the age of 103…and is really buried in Texas. Would DNA testing finally establish the truth?
