Radar Thirteen - Undetermined Measurements
Ten people dressed in stark white "clean suits" and masks disperse amongst picnickers, inspecting the ground in sunny Central Park. Heads turn, unsure, and people start asking questions. Undetermined Measurements is an ongoing performance and documentation project. During each phase of the interventionist series volunteers gather, dress in protective clothes and silently engage with the audience in a non-confrontational manner. Why are they there? The question is left open ended, expressing the ever-changing perception that the United States has transformed from a unique symbol of freedom to a more fragile and fearful representation of uncertainty. We follow Sean Hovendick and his team as he takes Undetermined Measurements to NYC for the first time.

Untitled (adidas). 2009
Through invented, artificial, but extremely realistic-looking movements, and by changing the perception of time, I try to uncover hidden patterns and states of mind unconditioned by the “possible”.

Subway Yearbook Photos - M.A.P. WINNER
Winner of the Audience Award in the Metropolis Art Prize 2009.

For our latest Improv Everywhere mission, we installed a photography studio on a random subway car. We claimed that the MTA had hired us to take photos of every single person who rides the subway and that we'd be producing a yearbook at the end of the year. Most people were happy to pose for us, and the resulting photos show just how diverse New York subway riders can be.

Mika Rottenberg
For our final video taking a closer look at this year's Whitney Biennial, we travel to the Harlem studio of video artist Mika Rottenberg. Known for videos depicting women engaging in elaborate systems of production that often harvest their own body, Mika shows us the set of her latest piece (and Biennial installation), "Cheese" and tells us the backstory of making the video. We also spend some time at the former brewery talking over her motivations and strategies—from the role that sound plays to finding her actors online.

Human Sculpture Trail
Follow an incredible sculpture trail through the busy streets of central London. Live body sculptures are set up quickly and exist fleetingly before the acrobatic performers disengage themselves and move on. The route is revealed as the work progresses, leaving it to the audience to follow the performers and discover the next installation. The colourful body sculptures offer a new and imaginative perspective on well-known spaces and architecture, as well as displaying astounding physical prowess.

Bodies in Urban Spaces is a Willi Dorner event for Dance Umbrella 2009. For more Art in the City videos, visit the superpage.

PAM: Divine Nature of Mother and her Sins Within
She bears her sins deep within. The beauty of nature and the magic of life, in turmoil and in conflict with the existence that it represents. The constant cycle of our life on earth only makes sense within a box but only when we are freed from those constraints can we understand.
