Russendiskos were originally started as gatherings to offer ex-pat Russians in Berlin a shared sense of community. Russian immigrants suffered marginalization and celebrating Russian culture was seen to hold negative connotations. We join the new generation of Russendisko punters as they wear their Russian identity with more pride than a Berliner hipster!
