Dig For Fire & Other Music's SXSW Lawn Party: The...
Young Turks/XL Recordings scored yet again when they plucked The xx and planted them in their "back office" studio, generating "xx", one of the most talked-about records of the last six months. Dig For Fire and Other Music were honored to host The xx's SXSW debut at our Lawn Party this year. The crowd was bar-none the biggest we've had in three years. We promise that we didn't multi track the audience response in this film. That roar is the real deal. Meanwhile, Minnesota has reared yet another musical gem: Anni Rossi writes poetic pop which takes unexpected turns, this tune "Crushing Limbs" in particular feeling accidentally (or not?) 80's dubtronic. Yeah, and it's cool she plays viola, but it's her voice that really has us hooked. For more in the series go to www.babelgum.com/sxsw

Dig For Fire & Other Music's SXSW Lawn Party: Real...
Most young bands take a couple of years to settle into their sound; Real Estate (who were weaned on Jersey water before expatriating to Brooklyn) sounds like they've been putting out records for decades. They layer sound, melody and rhythm into what sounds easy like a summer song but evokes emotion like a symphony. While we're on weaning we'd like to thank Dylan LeBlanc's bass player for his hanky panky 19 years ago that resulted in that bootful of brilliance, Dylan himself. Yup, that's Dad (aka hit songwriter James LeBlanc) on the bass, the magic they created that sunny day at the Dig For Fire/Other Music SXSW Lawn Party will leave all of us saying "I saw him when..." Dig For Fire & Other Music's SXSW Lawn Party: Sharon...
Haunting songstress Sharon Van Etten wrapped her Dig For Fire/Other Music SXSW Lawn Party followers in a blanket of great-sounding Gibson hollow body guitar and angelic vocals. Her indie-folk music is finely crafted, and it’s her precise recipe of range, melody and heart-stoppingly honest lyrics that sets her apart from the numerous other singer-songwriters out there today. We were proud when Brooklyn-based Van Etten passed the baton up the hill to local Austin band Yellowfever, a charismatic team made up of multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Jennifer Moore and drummer Adam Jones. Their upbeat set of contagious melodies over slick, sarcastic keyboard riffs and sparse drum beats creates a neo-pop sound that no hipsters, North, East, South, West, or South by Southwest, can resist!
