The xx Live at Other Music & Dig For Fire's SXSW...
"You asked for it? You got it: in its entirety, The xx debut SXSW performance at Other Music and Dig For Fire’s SXSW 2010 Lawn Party. When The xx got in touch with our pals Other Music to ask if they could play our annual party, we knew we had our headliner, but little did we know that within the historic walls of the French Legation Museum, history would yet again be made. You know that feeling when you’re part of something special? The crowd kept growing, forcing the gates closed. That stopped no one from jumping the 6-foot stone walls and filling every square inch of the property with gazing, swaying adoration for this transcendent trio. Eyes fixed on the stage, cameras only put down to clap and cheer for a band whose music is magic, with sinuate melodies suspended by Romy Madley Crofts’ unaffected vocals, we just can’t get enough of the xx. Dig For Fire is pleased to share the entire set with you, exclusively on babelgum.com. Now you know where you’ll be next March: at the Other Music/Dig For Fire SXSW 2011 Lawn Party! See you there…."

CMJ 2010 Blogumentary - Oberhofer
Oberhofer is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the NY music scene. This Tacoma transplant had one of the most infectious energies onstage this CMJ. Brad Oberhofer dreamt early on in life about making it big; Rapper, orchestral conductor, rock star. Watching his performance, it's clear he's got the talent and swaggar to pull it off. For such a young musician, Oberhofer has a confidence and songwriting ability that is wise beyond his years.

CMJ 2010 Blogumentary - James Vincent McMorrow
Having self-released his debut EP only a few months ago in Ireland, James Vincent McMorrow has already grabbed the attention of labels and bloggers alike, and made it to CMJ for his American debut. The Dublin native opened his first showcase with raw folk tunes. McMorrow’s voice is sultry yet powerful and his lyrics have an honesty indicative of a much more seasoned artist. McMorrow’s Album comes out in the States this winter so grab yourself a copy.

CMJ 2010 Blogumentary - Freddie Gibbs & Grillade
We were lucky enough to catch Freddie Gibbs rehearsing in the studio with Grillade for the rappers first performance with a live band. He was the secret guest for fans in the know at Glasslands Gallery for the Yours Truly CMJ showcase. The collaboration of Freddie's rhymes and Grillade's soulfulness made it an especially sweet ending to the night.

CMJ 2010 Blogumentary - Dead Gaze
Numerous releases this year and increasing love in the blogosphere have landed Cole Furlow, the man behind Dead Gaze, well deserved accolades. Hailing from Mississippi, Dead Gaze make dreamy, melodic noise. Vocal effects, swampy guitars and plenty of fuzz are nothing new, but the excellent songwriting really make Dead Gaze stand out. Running on empty, we just made it to the former Market Hotel space in Bushwick for a private acoustic performance.
