Fresh Air Challenge Episode 4: Desert Friction

Spitzkop is a mountain rising out of the desolate landscapes of the Namibian Desert. On it's South-West face a brown water streak runs almost vertically from top to bottom. The blank streak raised a challenge to a group of rock climbers in 1990 and, after about 6 months and numerous trips to the mountain, they finally succeeded in climbing the route. The route is quite featureless, it is a perfect slab and there are practically no hand or footholds. There are no faults for a climber to place natural protection and the bolts that are placed to facilitate free climbing the route are up to 12 meters apart in places. A mistake here would result in a 24 meter fall. Only one group has successfully repeated the climb since it's bold opening party, despite numerous attempts.
