What is Babelgum?

A free internet TV platform supported by advertising, Babelgum combines the full-screen video quality of traditional television with the interactive capabilities of the internet, offering professionally produced programming on demand to a global audience.

How do I watch videos?

Select a video on the Babelgum website by clicking it. The video should then start automatically (if not, please see requirements below). Traditional video controls (Play/Pause, Time Bar, Volume/Mute, Full-screen) appear when the cursor is placed at the bottom of the video screen.

To watch videos on Babelgum, your computer will need to meet the following requirements.

  • Adobe Flash 9.0.115 or higher. Click here to get the latest version of Adobe Flash.
  • Windows XP or Vista (with latest updates), with Internet Explorer 7+,  Firefox 2+ or Chrome.
  • Mac OS X 10.4.11 or higher, with Safari 3.0+, Firefox 2+ or Chrome.
  • Internet bandwidth of at least 450Kbps.

 

How do I search for videos?

Just enter keywords or the title of the video in the Search bar at the top of the page, and press ‘Enter’.

How do I browse for videos?

Start by selecting one of our five main Channels at the top of the page. They are:

Film
From the newest talent to established names in independent cinema, our Film Channel covers everything from drama to comedy, animation and documentary.

Music
The Music Channel showcases exclusive live concerts, insightful interviews, compelling music documentaries and the latest music videos from some of the coolest bands in the world.

Comedy
The Comedy channel features the best of the BBC, The Onion, and Funny or Die, hilarious sketches and stand up performances by today's hottest comedians, innovative sitcoms, and our own comedy originals.

Animation
Our newest channel contains everything from classic cartoons to modern Japanese anime series, favorites like Dilbert, The New Yorker, Over the Hedge, plus selections from international animation festivals.You'll be drawn in too.

Metropolis 
Metropolis features urban adventures through the world's top cities and covers street art, fashion, music, design, shopping, local subcultures and the latest trends.

Alternatively, you can click “Browse All Videos” (at the top right) to view listings in all categories and then order them by Most Viewed, Most Recent, or A-Z.

 

How do I share videos?

Below the clip window on the right side you can click to share videos on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, StuunbleUpon, Buzz, Reddit, and MySpace as well as through email.

 

How do I create Playlists?

You must login to create playlists. Please sign up and login first. Once you login, you can add a clip to your Favorites list by clicking the + (plus) symbol on the left below the clip window. You can also add a clip to your list while browsing videos by rolling over the thumbnail image of it until the + (plus) symbol appears in the upper right corner of the image and clicking it.

To create, edit, and manage additional Playlists, go to the bottom of any page and click My Playlists. Click again to hide Playlists.
