Dave Foley on Babelgum Comedy

The Sensible Traveler with Bobby Fargo (AKA Dave Foley)

You’ve seen him agree with 29 other Helens, announce the cause of cancer, and just overall be a silly Canadian sketch comedy actor. Like a wild pokemon, we’ve finally captured the elusive Dave Foley. In his latest series, and Babelgum Comedy exclusive, The Sensible Traveler with Bobby Fargo, Foley plays the titular Bobby Fargo. Although really, the star of the show isn’t Foley so much as the various people he hilariously freaks out through his misadventures. A brief sample:

His series can be seen over on Babelgum Comedy or on his own Babelgum page. Additionally, you can join his newly created official fan page, or his older fan page which apparently lists him as a model and has some creepy pictures of him posted by creepy people with creepy names. We’re looking at you, John W. Cobb.

If you love us and want to say hi, or think this blog kisses too much Dave Foley butt, drop a line to comedy.babelgum+davefoley@gmail.com. Or don’t, because we’re quite busy making a collage of photos of Dave Foley. *swoon*

Babelgum Comedy’s Joke of the Day

Joke of the Day
Presented by our good friends over at Comedy.com:

A proctologist walks into a bank and reaches inside his jacket to get a pen, but pulls out…

For the end of this joke, check today’s Joke of the Day. For more smart comedy, check out Babelgum Comedy. You’re welcome.

Babelgum Comedy Wains on Your Pawade

Puns! Now that that’s out of the way, we’d like to introduce you to this fantastic series starring David Wain, appropriately titled Wainy Days.

The cast is star-studded, the plot is perfectly silly, and the puns are puntiful. Did we mention spontaneous dancing in the street?

If that’s not quite your cup of tea, you’re either a horrible person or someone might prefer another hilarious series called Horrible People.

STILL not satisfied? How about Sarah Silverman in something not quite as crazy as the Sarah Silverman Program, but just as adorable and interesting? It’s called Pilot Season, and if you don’t like it, we have plenty more options over at Babelgum Comedy.

Superliminal Advertising from Babelgum Comedy

Lucky for you, all we want is for you to watch some funny videos. We’ll never be as forward and crass as this cartoon, and we’ll never lie to you like this woman.

So come over and browse Babelgum Comedy. We’re hilarious, we’re constantly updating, and we’re not horrible people.

Working for the Weekend at Babelgum Comedy

Today marks the passing of over half of this work week. What say we cut out a bit early and have a drink in the office? Or better yet, redesign the whole office for drinking? Maybe have an extremely casual Friday? Perhaps even start your novel on company time?

To clarify, we don’t suggest you attempt getting fired, or working naked, or even drinking at work. We do suggest you head on over to Babelgum Comedy for more great, smart comedy.

5 Things We Learned About Relationships Today From Watching Stand Up Comedy Videos

Mondays at Babelgum Comedy are a time when we consider a lot of things: How hungover over we still are from the weekend’s festivities, how people survive going back to jobs that don’t involve watching hilarious videos all day, and whether or not we should continue to pretend we’re happy in our current relationship.

It’s that last tradition that inspired us today to check out some great stand up comedy clips about relationships. Luckily, our pals at Rooftop Comedy have supplied us with the advice of some of the best comedians on the planet. Here’s five things we learned about relationships from them:

1. How To Talk Dirty
When it comes to talking dirty, it’s usually not a great idea to discuss how much money you saved on dinner with a coupon.

2. Marriage Isn’t All It’s Cracked Up To Be
Ricky Reyes reveals what being married is actually like (hint: not awesome).

3. Girls Are Like Sexual Loan Sharks
Pete Lee warns that just because a woman is willing to have sex with you, it doesn’t mean it’s a good investment.

4. Text Messaging Can C*ck Block You
Last Comic Standing’s Chris Porter teaches us about how text messaging can be hazardous to your hook up potential.

5. The Secret To A Good Relationship Is To Do What You’re Told
Nathan Timmel explains how he finally learned how to make a relationship work when he turned 40.

Suddenly, our own relationship doesn’t seem so bad.

Have You Checked Out Babelgum Comedy Lately?

The OnionNew YorkerDilbert

Hey there, Babelgum fans! We, the editors of Babelgum’s fantastically hilarious Comedy channel, just wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves to you and let you know that you’re going to be seeing a lot more of us on this blog starting today. If you haven’t checked out our great collection of smart comedy videos yet, then either you’re very confused or you hate laughter. Either way, we recommend you head on over and check out what we’ve got for you.

If you’re wondering where you should start, here’s a taste of some of the great stuff on the channel:

Mexico Builds A Border Wall To Keep Out American Assholes
The latest and greatest video from The Onion is a spot-on take on why drunk Americans love to cross the border and why Mexicans probably wish they’d keep their partying ways in California where they belong.

This Is Why Gravity Sucks
Did you ever read a funny cartoon in The New Yorker and wish you could see it “come alive” as a 16 second animated video? Yeah, so did we.

Real Men Don’t Need Porn
You know what’s great about standup? If the joke is funny enough, sometimes you don’t even need to stand up to make us laugh with it.

Dilbert’s Late Again
When it comes to office antics, nobody does it better than Dilbert. Well, at least nobody does it with more of a dry sense of humor than Dilbert.

When you’re done watching these clips (and probably the 100 other clips you’ll wind up watching on our Comedy channel), leave a comment telling us which ones were your favorites. Tell us what you want more of and we’ll give it to you…unless it involves a donkey. In that case, you’re on your own.

Top 10 Dogbert Moments

If you’re at all familiar with the comic strip Dilbert, then you know all about our fuddy hero’s canine companion, Dogbert. This evil and sarcastic mutt has his hands, erm, paws in whatever it takes to make Dilbert and his coworkers miserable. We all have a Dogbert in our lives, so there’s bound to be a stinger in here that you can identify with someone you know. Deep down, Dogbert probably means well, but then again, he does have plans for world domination. Here are 10 of the moments where Dogbert does what he does best: tells it like it is and takes no prisoners.

1. Banjo Legs – In this clip, Dogbert gives Dilbert a new nickname. Unfortunately, it’s not a flattering one.

dogbert sarcasm2. Supportive Sarcasm – Dogbert helps Dilbert realize new meaning behind the phrase, “you’re damned if you do, and you’re damned if you don’t.”

3. Walking the Dog – Dogbert “helps” Dilbert get a date. And by “help,” I mean he makes it nearly impossible.Dogbert1

4. Free Energy – Even though Dilbert shuts down Dogbert’s evil plan, it won’t help after Dilbert goes to sleep.

5.   New Invention – Dilbert, always the inventor, comes up with a way to get rid of all the unpleasant sights in his life. Unfortunately, Dogbert has a way of crushing his Dogbert 3dreams.

6.    Good Morning – During a breakfast chat, Dilbert realizes the perils of the rat race, while Dogbert helps with some sarcastic advice. Also, Dogbert loves sugar.

7.    A More Attractive Him – Dogbert, in a rare moment of consideration and respect, offers Dilbert some sound advice. Then, he ruins it by being a jerk.

8.    Cute – No matter how cute he thinks he is, Dogbert seems to have a way of showing his evil side. He’s like a Chihuahua bred with a Chupacabra. Only less ethnic.

9.   Reboot – Shut up, and reboot. Finally, some sound advice from Dogbert.

dogbert 210. Dogbert for President – With a platform like this, Dogbert might be able to do something about the economic downfall. Also, if you don’t vote for him, the terrorists will win.

Festive cheer starts here…

Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, tis the season to be jolly – no matter how much turmoil is going on in the world . So bring on the comedy:  Red Green, Ricky Tomlinson and the cartoon characters of Christmas Inc. provide an alternative take on the festivities that’ll have you laughing your way into the New Year.

Now contrary to popular belief, Santa doesn’t always pull up on a sleigh… apparently in 1956 he left the reindeer at home and travelled by Flying Saucer (what do you mean you don’t believe in flying saucers?!)

Those who haven’t yet put up a Christmas tree might take inspiration from the 44 Designer Christmas Trees that went on show for charity in Paris last year, created by fashion houses including Chanel and Dior.

And if you’re daunted by the idea of cooking Christmas dinner, take a look at these tips on How to Carve a Turkey and how to serve those dreaded Brussels sprouts… and if you end up over-indulging (let’s face it, who doesn’t), Bare Beauty shows you how to detox in style.

Do you Wish it Could Be Christmas Every Day? OK maybe not. But even if you’re a Christmas humbug the hilarious outfits, big hair and facial furniture in this Seventies glam rock classic are sure to jingle your bells.

Happy Holidays to all!
