The “Rocking Chair” Experience

Many considerations have been made in the past years on the lean back versus lean forward user experience to differentiate TV use from PC use.

We aim at designing the right balance between the two. We like to call it the “Rocking Chair Experience”. At times you can just sit back and enjoy full screen high quality streaming of your favorite content. Other times you will move forward and use different widgets to rate, tag, bookmark or chat about what you are seeing and browse in a social environment.

TV invented the couch, while PC redesigned the desk. How will their crossover impact the rocking chair?

Back from NY, back to work

I just got back from the P2P Media Summit held in NY hosted by the Distributed Computing Industry Association. I spoke on a panel called: “Artists and Rights Holders – P2P for Content Creators”. Here’s a link to the program. The feeling is that the market is getting ready for a new structure of content distribution. Niche content will be able to get a real audience, thanks to P2P-enabled Internet TV, and to attract a significant share of the advertising budgets that are migrating from traditional media. We’ll keep you posted.
