Ali, a young freerunner in the UK, explains how in Parkour, one’s mental agility is as important as their physical ability. ”I picture that everything I’ve ever wanted is on the other side of that wall.”
Sort of like “The Little Engine That Could (leap over buildings)”

This is the original viral video that inspired the AT&T flash mob commercial! It’s definitely is a sign of the group’s success, but is it a good thing?

“Art that was “”headbuttingly impossible to ignore”" is how Charles Saatchi describes the work that intrigued him as he started to collect British art in the early 1990s. Damien Hirst’s giant shark in formaldehyde, Tracey Emin’s unmade bed and a chilling portrait of Myra Hindley by Marcus Harvey are among the artworks that have since become icons of the decade. The Saatchi Gallery, now in the former County Hall in London, is a permanent home for a changing selection of Saatchi’s world-famous collection. The Saatchi Gallery 100 is a fast-paced and fascinating film featuring one hundred of these artworks, accompanied by reflections and anecdotes from the artists themselves. Sarah Lucas’ confrontational self-portraits are among the highlights, as are the bold paintings of Gary Hume, photographs by Richard Billingham, sculptures of genetically mutated children by Jake and Dinos Chapman, and many more. Like the collection itself, the film offers a unique understanding of why London has become the centre of the international art world over the past decade – and how art in Britain continues to surprise and challenge and delight.”

Delicious beetroot cocktails (no, really), mini borschts and enough vodka to keep a Ukranian village merry throughout the 12 days of Christmas, the Zorokovich 1917 launch party sure was a lot of fun. Check out our photos here.

Here’s something to raise the spirits in this cold and snowy weather: This Friday’s launch party for Zorokovich 1917 vodka, the silent star of our original web series How to Re-Establish a Vodka Empire.
From the blizzardy wastes of Douboviazovka to a cocktail lounge in London’s Mayfair, this little vodka’s come a long way. Filmmaker Dan Edelystn will be holding court at Aura Mayfair from 4pm, sharing the sensational story of how the chance discovery of his grandmother’s diaries led him on an epic journey through his family history, from pre-revolutionary Russia to civil-war era Belfast, and to his great-grandfather Ilya’s vodka distillery, still operating in 21st-century Ukraine.
The challenge he then set himself was to:
- Revive the family vodka brand and, like a perky young David, take on the Goliaths of the alcohol industry
- Restore the fortunes of his ancestral village
- Make a drama-documentary detailing his family history, starring himself and his wife, to be screened on UK television channel More4 in 2011.
How hard could it be?
Watch the story from the beginning.
Zorokovich 1917 is now on sale in Selfridges, London’s swankiest department store.
You can find out more about the launch party on the event’s Facebook page. Dan and his production team will be filming scenes for the documentary film at the launch party, so be sure to slip on your glad rags and wear your jauntiest ushanka hat.
