Merge Records

In 1989, Merge Records was founded by Superchunk's Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance in Chapel Hill, NC with some 4-track recordings, a couple of cassette tapes, and some hand-stuffed vinyl.

Twenty years later, the label boasts some of the biggest bands on the independent music scene, including Arcade Fire, Spoon, Polvo, M. Ward, Lou Barlow, She & Him, and more.

Earlier this summer Merge Records hosted XX Merge: five days of live music by over 30 Merge artists past and present in the summer heat of sunny North Carolina.

Watch on for exclusive live footage from the festival, including performances from Superchunk, Polvo, Telekinesis, Wye Oak, Spoon, She & Him, Lou Barlow, The Clientele, Destroyer, Richard Buckner and many more.
